When it syncs up it does work, though, and printing is always fine, which is cool. So statistically, for me, PaperCut is 0 for 1. Took me longer to reverse engineer how PaperCut works than to build the package due to poor technical documentation.

Users download from web server of mine (linked through a Nexudus help page they have access to), they install pkg, which anyone can do, and I've not one ticket regarding PaperCut setup for this client. So I bundled it into a package that drops PaperCut into /Applications then requires a reboot (for that sweet LaunchAgent action). Otherwise users have to jump through hoops to install PaperCut, trust they'll add it to their login items, etc. So we've just to deal with it, or so I'm told.įor OSX I also had to repackage it for deployment into a concise. I've gotten no enterprise level answers about running the Extender on boot without user interaction from PaperCut or the printer company we liaison with (who sold the bundle to the client).

Furthermore the building they are in has shitty power and goes offline periodically. Then the client finds out they aren't billing properly, we get scolded, etc. It's setup on the PaperCut print server, meaning if another one of my techs hops on there, or someone at the client logs in, and then logs off the user Extender is running under, or reboots the server, etc, it breaks the sync. I have found it requires running in the user space in order for it to continually sync user data, cost, etc.

Is there a way I can modify the script properly to either avoid this issue or to set a username and password for it to authenticate to?Ĭlient of mine syncs it to Nexudus Spaces using the bullshit PaperCut Extender. I tried modifying the script to be lpd://10.xx.xx.xx but that didn't help. When I set the printer manually I set LPD instead of IPP. I thought it may be in the LPD setting for the printer. This leads me to believe there is a problem in the script. When I added the printer manually to a single computer using the IP connection I was able to connect and print the test page without any errors. I have tried deleting and restoring the printer using the script but again the same error.

First, I tried deleting any printer passwords stored in the keychain but there weren't any stored there for me to delete. So this led me to believe it was a basic authentication issue but I am having some problems.

When I look at the print log I see this:Į Authentication required
